Photography by Megan Sneak Peek Blog! bio picture

Welcome to my blog!  See the cute little guy on the right?  That's my baby boy, Wesley Nathan, and he's four months old.  He keeps his mama pretty busy--so busy in fact, that she's had to slow down her workload a bit in order to soak up as much time with him as she can while he's little!

Right now I'm not taking any additional new clients until later this winter, so my apologies for anyone who I've missed!  I appreciate everyone who has been so understanding and flexible at this time!  Keep checking back for updated availability, and of course, all the latest blog posts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Gracie, Eyan, Lauryn, and Camryn

It’s been about a year since my last session with this family–little Camryn was just a newborn and now she’s walking (and running) all over the place!  Definitely hard to keep her in one spot long enough to take a picture, but lots of fun!  We met up at Lake Bronson State Park for a windy afternoon session.  Luckily this made it a lot easier to deal with the bugs that had been plaguing the area for the past few weeks!  It was also a cooler day, but that didn’t stop the kids from getting in their swim suits and jumping in the water!

Isabelle and Lucy

This is my third summer photographing these two sweeties–and they keep getting sweeter!  Isa and Lucy came out to West Wind farm (our session last time was downtown Grand Forks) so we had fun with some different country backgrounds including in the trees, around the red barn, and the “open road”!  We also did some special pictures with a quilt and an old picture of the girls’ Grandma Jane who had recently passed away.  This was the last quilt she made so it meant a lot to them, and it made for a gorgeous background, too!

Wyatt, Warner, and Karjmella

This had to be one of the fastest sessions I’ve ever done, with still the most amount of awesome photos as a result!  When we started the session there were dark looming clouds that were literally about to pour down any second.  We rushed around to different spots on the farm to make sure we at least got a few family photos just in case we were rained out, and the kids cooperated so well, which totally helped!  By the time we got to the barn, the sprinkles had started, and then we had to make a RUN for it back to the house as the rain started!  Luckily we had most of the shots by then, so we just did a few fun ones in the rain under the back porch roof.  Check ‘em out!

Julia and Jolie

It’s so fun to photograph newborns, especially after I’ve had my own!  Little Jolie was just a couple weeks old when they came up to Hallock for their session.  You might remember big sister Julia from last year when she was a newborn.  This time as a one-year-old she was full of mischief and smiles, showing off her pink Barbie car and her walking skills!  Here are some of my picks!

August 18, 2010 - 2:28 pm Deb Beland - Perfect little girls (and sisters!!)!!... The pictures are adorable!!

Jason and Jenna – 8.6.10

Jenna’s sister is a photographer, but since she was so involved with the wedding they realized they needed someone to help capture the day–so that’s where I stepped in!  It was nice to have just short day (I covered the posed pictures ’till the end of the ceremony) so I was able to get back home to my baby a little quicker than usual.  It was also a fun challenge to find spots for photos.  The church yard was limited, so I ran across the (busy) street and asked if we could use a neighbor’s backyard.  Coupled with the fact that it was on the edge of the dike with some fabulous overgrown grass, you’d never guess we were right in town and not in a country meadow!  That’s the beauty of photography–here are my picks!

August 16, 2010 - 9:05 pm Amy Jane - These are great, love the "meadow" shots! They look so happy!

Kaitlyn

Way back in 2002, I had a job at the Fargo YMCA as a school age leader working with kids all summer long.  One of those kids was Kaitlyn, and to my surprise, (well not so much of a surprise these days with Facebook!) we found each other on the site a few months back, and she asked if I could shoot her senior pictures.  Considering the last time I saw her she was only in about third grade, I was so excited to meet up with her again and see how much she had “grown up”.   She has turned into a beautiful young woman and we had so much fun looking for spots to take pictures, and her dad even brought along his classic car to use in a few.  It was fun to catch up–here are my favorites!

Mitch and Kayla – 7.24.10

Mitch and Kayla had an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding, and once again it was nearly impossible to narrow down my favorites for this blog post!  With the old train depot, a classic car, and even a random antique bike found along the way, there couldn’t have been more awesome places to shoot pictures!  The wedding was held in Baudette, Minnesota, so of course we had to get a group shot by the big Walleye.  Mitch is from my hometown so it was also great to see so many people I knew at the ceremony.  Here are just a handful of my many favorites!

August 20, 2010 - 9:04 pm Cindy - These are all so great!! And that green just pops in every photo! I don't know how Mitch and Kayla are going to pick! They'll have to order ALL of them!! Great job, Megan! (But you had a pretty cute couple to work with!)

Wesley’s Cousins :)

We’ve been on the road again!  We just returned from another 2 week trip out to visit my husband and the harvesters who had been in South Dakota.  They finally finished up a couple days ago, and now I’m happy to say we’re ALL finally home together back in Minnesota, with the harvest here in full swing!  While we were gone, Wesley’s cousins Kajsa, Quin, and Delia came to visit.  It was also due time for Delia’s one year pictures, so we headed downtown for a fun little urban session.  The next day before everyone left we did a few more family shots, including Nathan and I!  As a photographer I know how rarely I’m in FRONT of the camera, so I took advantage of it.  I also added a few “Wesley” extras.  He’s now FOUR MONTHS OLD!

…and a few of Wesley and the cousins with Grandma and Grandpa!

Riding combine with Daddy.

He’s a blondie, now.

Giddy-up!

August 10, 2010 - 5:02 pm Alicia - Adorable pictures of the cousins & Delia looks just like her Mommy did as a baby! My favorite is of Wesley in his cowboy shirt!

August 10, 2010 - 6:17 pm Katie - I think I would like to see a Elise | Delia comparison photo!

August 13, 2010 - 2:38 pm Breanna - Wow! Wesley is looking more and more like Nathan everyday it is unreal. And I LOVE his western shirt! Where did you find such a vintage looking shirt?

August 13, 2010 - 4:21 pm Megan - Thanks! Wesley got the shirt as a gift from the Thurmans...I think they got it at a store down in South Dakota somewhere. I'll have to ask the next time I see them, I forgot the name!

August 17, 2010 - 4:35 pm Michelle Olderbak - Love the combine picture with daddy. SO cute:)

Lucas

Meet Lucas–he is Wesley’s future best buddy and classmate!  They were born only a couple weeks apart (and his mommy and I were obviously pregnant at the same time!) so it has been fun to go through not only the pregnancy milestones but now the baby milestones together.  I can just about imagine the trouble they will get into when they’re older!  Lucas came out for an evening session at West Wind Farm and we had so much fun.  Lucas is definitely going to be a future farmer, he even wore a shirt that said so!  And of course, I had to sneak Wesley in one of the shots!

Lucas and his buddy Wesley model their Tie-Shirts, made by my mom!

KylieJo

As you may have noticed I’ve been doing a lot more photo sessions on location in my hometown in order to be closer to Wesley (not having to travel so much!) and I’ve been lucky enough to have so many willing clients come to me.  After years of driving everywhere from Grand Forks to Minneapolis (and just about everywhere in between!) and even flying to places like Florida and Arizona, it’s been nice to stay put for the time being!  One of my favorite spots is at my parent’s place–West Wind Farm.  Little KylieJo didn’t have to travel too far, though, as they live in Hallock and only had to come four miles, but it just gives you a glimpse at some of the shots from this place if you’re considering driving up.  Red barn, wheat fields (for now!) and even an apple tree.  KylieJo loved the green apple she picked and wouldn’t put it down almost the whole session–see how many pictures you can find it hiding!
