Welcome to my blog!  See the cute little guy on the right?  That's my baby boy, Wesley Nathan, and he's four months old.  He keeps his mama pretty busy--so busy in fact, that she's had to slow down her workload a bit in order to soak up as much time with him as she can while he's little!

Right now I'm not taking any additional new clients until later this winter, so my apologies for anyone who I've missed!  I appreciate everyone who has been so understanding and flexible at this time!  Keep checking back for updated availability, and of course, all the latest blog posts.

Thanks for stopping by!

All Sorts of News!

Well hello there!  It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?  I realize I’ve neglected my blog lately, so my apologies!  It’s been a crazy past couple weeks–we’ve had a return of some absolutely gorgeous weather and I’ve been shooting tons of outdoor sessions as fast as I can before the snow falls.  This of course means I’ve been out of my office lately and as usual my blogs and e-mails get a bit behind, so if you haven’t heard back from me just yet that’s the reason!  Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up soon, and I’ll definitely be posting lots of sessions in the next few days.  I’ve also started designing and working on Christmas cards, and am taking a limited number of designs this year so if you’re interested please let me know.  The deadline for cards will be December 15th, so keep that in mind if you want yours out before Christmas!

In Baby News, we recently found out we are having a little BOY!  We couldn’t be happier (my husband especially!) and knowing everything is going well so far is such a relief.  I’m almost 21 weeks along right now and feeling great, although exhausted at times!  I also seem to catch every cold and bug that goes around so I’ve had to slow down a bit and try to get some rest here and there.  For someone who never had so much as a head cold in the past two years, this is definitely a change!  Still it is so wonderful to experience this amazing journey of pregnancy and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!

With that, I figured I could share a few personal photos to end this post; the latest ultrasound picture (it’s a view from the front and his face is on the right side!), and then a few early maternity pictures my sister-in-law took of me this fall when the leaves were at their peak.  I hope to have another session or two of myself as the months progress, and I’ll be sure to share.  I’ve already grown so much since the last photos were taken!

End of Summer Rush Crazy Time!

Just wanted to pop in and let you know I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, even though it may seem like it!  I’ve been out shooting like crazy for the past week trying to squeeze in all the appointments I had to postpone due to rain and other things.  It’s definitely that time of year again as my ability to work in my office unfortunately gets limited and certain things get behind, especially e-mails, and for that I apologize.  I’m working steadily on galleries and hopefully I’ll get a new blog post up soon–I’ve got about 20 in line so expect LOTS more pictures!  Again, kudos to all my amazingly patient clients who I know are waiting to see their images.  I’m working as fast as I can and have next week marked off to spend catching up… thank goodness!

Brooklyn and Katie

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years that I’ve been photographing these sweet sisters, but they’re getting taller each time we meet, and I just love Katie’s new specs!  We had another session at University Park, but I keep finding more and more spots to shoot to keep it interesting, including the flowerbeds that have some sort of blooming plant that have these super tall stems with flowering balls at the end, yet they smell like onions.  Any gardeners out there have any clue as to what they would be called?  Either way, they’re fantastic for pictures!

I also wanted to mention a quick note that I am booked for the rest of the summer, fall, and early winter.  I am currently not taking any new appointments at this time and will resume booking in a few months.  With my crazy schedule and lots going on in my life right now, my time is focused on current client work only.  I apologize for anyone who got left out this year, I had no idea it would get this busy!  My e-mail response time is a bit slow as I am out of my office a lot, so if it’s taking a bit longer for me to respond that is the reason.  Thank you SO much for your patience and understanding!

Summer Schedule and other Tidbits!

First of all, I am LOVING all the great comments lately, I truly read and enjoy each and every one.  Thank you so much for your feedback!  For those of you who asked about the fun cupcakes from my recent birthday sessions, you can actually make your own with this fabulous pan from Target!

It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year, but I will be leaving to go on harvest with my husband Nathan in just a couple weeks.  For those of you who don’t know, we head south and travel throughout Kansas, Colorado and the Dakotas harvesting wheat and livin’ on the road in the summer–it’s quite an adventure and I’m so glad I have the opportunity to join Nathan and his crew for part of the trip!  You can find out more at www.sugdenharvesting.com.

This all means I will not be scheduling any sessions or weddings the entire month of June.  To make up for that, of course, I’m extremely busy almost every day until I leave, with current clients (and probably still have enough blogs to last most of June, plus it’s fun to do updates from on the road about where we are and what we’re doing!), and I am almost full booking July and August.  So if you want to get in on summer/fall sessions NOW is the time to e-mail!

Busy Week!

Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know I’ve been out of town this week shooting travel sessions in Bismarck and Mandan, ND.  I’m back home now but head to Grand Forks this afternoon again for more sessions.  (Hence the quiet blog the past few days as I’ve been out of my office.)  That will all change soon, though, because I’ve got TONS of new images to share!  The weather has been gorgeous and spring is definitely in the air, although it is supposed to **gasp** snow this week–I guess that’s what I get for living in Minnesota!

I recently caved in and  joined the masses on Twitter, that little mini-blogging service that’s all the buzz.  I’d like to keep everyone updated and hopefully grow my business a bit more through this handy tool.  You can check it out and follow me at http://twitter.com/meganphoto and see what I’ve been up to.  I promise to try and make it interesting and informative as I can!  :)   It has already come in handy while I was on my trip this past week booking some last minute sessions.  I had a great time in Bismarck/Mandan with all the awesome families and can’t wait to share all the latest pictures…check back soon!

Well, Hello There!

Welcome to the NEW Photography by Megan Sneak Peek Blog! I’m so excited to be able to launch this after many hours of work. I guess updating my website turned into more of a motivation than I first realized so I kept running with it! As you can see some things look familiar and some things look different. Take a look around! You’ll notice at the top there is a menu–this is where most of my old side bar items went. You can check out categories, peruse through archives, look up my availability, and search posts even MORE easily than before! The comment section is another area that was greatly improved. Now I’ll be able to have conversations with you guys if any questions are asked, so don’t hold back! I was able to move my entire blog over so you’ll see the archives are full and all your comments are still in tact. Make sure to update your RSS feeds and readers to my new (and much simpler) address, http://www.meganphoto.com/blog. There is even a easy way to add, just click the “subscribe” button at the top and you’ll be notified when new posts are up! And of course I can’t end without a picture…I’m excited to be able to post even bigger pictures than before. Check back, as I’ll have LOTS of new shots from my Twin Cities Sessions up soon, including this little cutie, Lillian. So, this is the new blog–I’d love to hear your feedback!

Fresh Look!

As you may have noticed I’ve been doing a little “spring” updating around here. A new blog header was just the beginning when I decided a few days ago I needed some change. One thing led to another and I ended up finally getting the motivation to update my website! For the past few days I’ve been absolutely buried in pictures, going through archives from the last year, resizing, arranging, thinking, changing, swapping, changing my mind again, adjusting and tweaking! It’s been hard to narrow down the images I wanted to use–I keep going back to add more! Looking at the finished product I’m even more aware of how my style has really evolved this past year, especially with how much I LOVE using bright colors in every shot I can. I hope when people see my work that my style is recognizable and stands out, because that’s what I’m going for and I want my website to reflect that. Plus, if you haven’t checked it out in awhile, now is a great time to go and see all the galleries with loads of NEW pictures (and a few old favorites, too!)

So check it out, the once again new and improved www.meganphoto.com! Let me know what you think!

I’m Still Here, It’s Time To Book!

I know it’s been quiet around the blog lately but that’s just because I’ve been so busy on the back end getting things together for a new year!  I’m putting together a schedule that’s already being filled up before I even made the official announcement and working out the kinks as I go along.  I shot a wedding last weekend and have 2009 sessions beginning next week so the pictures will definitely resume shortly!  In the meantime, check out the new availability calendar!  This just includes local and Grand Forks appointments… as soon as I have set dates for travel sessions I’ll be sure to put them up as well.

Check it out!

Poppin’ In

As you can probably see, I’ve been away for a bit!  I’ve been enjoying a nice, long, relaxing, well-needed break!  I hope everyone had a FANTASTIC Christmas and Hanukkah!  I’m looking forward to a very Happy New Year and hope the same for you!  Of course with this break I have been itchin’ to get back to work again.  Is that crazy?  I miss taking pictures even though it was nice to put away the camera for a couple weeks.  That being said, I’ll be coming back on here soon with a new 2009 schedule!  So if you’re looking to book or have already e-mailed me now is the time to check back.  Feel free to send an e-mail.  I’ll also be planning trips to Fargo, Bismarck, Minneapolis and possibly Phoenix in the coming months, so please check back if you’re interested in those sessions as well!

Pictures will resume shortly.  I’ll be headed up to the lake again for New Years so I wanted to make sure I wish you ALL a Happy New Year and thanks for making 2008 such a success!
